The Capital Beltway South Side Mobility Study is a compilation of any available existing literature, analyses, studies, designs and reports that have been previously prepared by Stakeholder Agencies concerning mobility in Southern Capital Beltway Study Area. The Study Area is defined by the Beltway from and including the Springfield Interchange on the west to Maryland Route 5 on the east. Phase I of the study examines information and data that supports decision making in whether a high occupancy vehicle (HOV) system is expected to be available within the study limits at some time after the Woodrow Wilson Bridge (WWB) project is completed, making the use of HOV lanes across the WWB feasible. The study also includes reviewed planned and existing projects that may also include (besides HOV) heavy rail, light rail, bus rapid transit, high occupancy toll lanes, and managed lanes. Phase I results are shown in this web site. Phase II of the study identifies any changes to the approved WWB Final Supplemental EIS document that must be addressed should construction of HOV on and off ramps at the U.S. Route 1 Interchange take a form other than that already proposed. It also will reflect other mode-choices. Stakeholder Agencies Include:
